Business headshots are typically cropped right up the bust line and a little over the head. These portraits are mostly taken with a backdrop. However, a lot goes into a powerful corporate headshot.

Lighting can make an executive look weak or powerful. For a powerful look, just enough highlights on one side of the face and shadow on the other side will create a dominant image.
Posing is also an essential ingredient for a strong business headshot. Leaning an executive forward a bit will elude confidence in an individual. Furthermore, leaning them back and to the side will give off a friendly feel. It often depends on what you do for a living to determine the look you may want to go for.
